Across the Universe by Beth Revis

Cover via Goodreads

Rating: 4.5/5 stars.

This futuristic novel contains enough mystery and romance to entice young adult readers who are reluctant to jump on the science-fiction ship.

I loved the world building and dystopian setting Revis sustained within Godspeed. There were themes such as what constitutes a good ruler and the effect of freedom and whether or not it should be taken away to maintain safety, which are not exactly common in the YA genre. The eclectic genre of this book is one of its strongest points, as there are tense moments that lead up to the climax but tender moments that flesh out the characters as well. I literally could not put it down during the last 100 pages.

The ending will leave readers waiting for more, as it is a both a conclusion and a cliffhanger. This series by Beth Revis is one to watch.

By the way, did anyone else not notice the faces on the cover? I feel slow, but I noticed them only after having the book on my desk for two weeks.

I noticed the faces the moment I saw the book…
It’s a good thing we analyze text and not artwork in English or you’d fail…
