F(x)’s First Full Album: “Pinocchio”

Image via allkpop

I’ve waited a long time for this album. I like it enough to write a fan boy gush post including the track list and some of my thoughts. Keep into consideration that I’m not an actual music critic, these are just my personal opinions.

1. Pinocchio (Danger) – Great title track, you can tell SM put a lot of effort into this one from the video. The song has an addictive quality, and the video is smooth and clean.

2. Round (Sweet Witches) – I like the 90’s sound, it reminds me of a fairy tale.

3. Dangerous – Seductive, sensual… similar to “Toxic” by Britney Spears.

4. Beautiful Goodbye – I don’t think ballads are f(x)’s style, but “Beautiful Goodbye” isn’t a flop – it showcases their vocal abilities.

5. Gangsta Boy – Hm, this one’s okay – I like the 90’s sound. Not my favorite, but I was pleasantly surprised by their comeback stage.

6. Child (Love) – Such a retro feel, if that’s what they were trying to establish then it definitely succeeded.

7. Stand Up! – A refreshing song with an unusual guitar beat, this one seems like the most different from the other songs in the album.

8. My Style – Their anthem song, I suppose.

9. So into U – Another ballad. Amber actually sings in this one, and not badly, either.

10. Lollipop (feat. SHINee) – HOT. As a Shawol (er, Locket) I must say it was well-played by SM to incorporate SHINee into this album. Not to mention that this is clearly a catchy workout style song as opposed to a ballad, so more people will want to listen to it. Taemin’s singing has improved, and Key’s voice is like oh my goodness do me now very attractive. I like it more than the other version, probably because I’m biased to my SM groups. (:

Overall opinions:
– It seems like they’re pushing Amber to flaunt her English, as shown by her slightly excessive use of it in “Beautiful Goodbye” and “Child (Love)”. It feels a little awkward in the context of the album, especially to someone who speaks English as a first language.
– All of the songs are good, but the ones that aren’t great like “Danger”, “Lollipop”, and “Dangerous”, feel a little bit like filler. I can’t imagine how they would perform “Gangsta Boy” on stage, for example.
– The 70’s and 80’s theme is well-done, but leaves me feeling confused at what image F(x) is trying to project with their prior songs like Nu Abo and Chu.

Those were my thoughts, what do you guys think of “Pinocchio”? Love it, hate it, okay with it?

Cupcakes/ F(x) Teaser Photos

So I’ve been procrastinating a lot today. Look at what I made instead of doing my homework!

I actually made these yesterday with my best friend. Ladies, get in line…

Seriously, I have so many backlogged drafts right now, ranging from topics like Britney Spears to V-neck sweaters. I just don’t have the time to write about all the things I’m constantly thinking about. I wish I did though. Maybe if I invent a time machine…

Therefore, instead of writing about something that requires me to think logically, I will spam photos of one of SM’s latest activities! AKA, F(x) promotions (April 20 is nine days away! Nine is a lucky number in Vietnamese! Or something…).

The F(x) teaser pics are spectacular. I love their style in general – it’s retro but not over the top, and makes me curious to see what “Pinocchio” is all about. I even heard from somewhere that there will be Russian folk dancing. Don’t quote me on that.

So excited! I like how they made a pattern with releasing Krystal, Sulli, and Luna with face shots while Amber and Victoria get full body shots. They all look in their element and ready to wow with the release of “Pinocchio”. The group picture is so chic and stylish – I cannot wait for the video teaser that will be released April 15th.

What do you think of these f(x) teaser pics? I’d love to hear fellow fans’ thoughts. Also, if you’re interested in a guy who can bake cupcakes, don’t hesitate to leave a comment below including your phone number… or drop off a little something nice in my contact information box. Just kidding. Sort of. (;

PS: Is anyone else jealous of Victoria’s legs? I know I am… (yes, I might be male. Just maybe)

Key’s Top Ten Girl Group Dances

His hips don't lie.

Welcome to my compilation of Key’s top ten girl group dances, from #10, all the way to #1. (: I understand if you can’t tear your eyes away from the dancing figure above to read the rest of this post – I’m having a bit of trouble myself…

For those who are unaware, Key is a member of the South Korean group SHINee. He’s well-known for his singing, rapping, and dancing – he’s a triple threat, and plays multiple parts in the group’s vocals and choreography. What also makes Key stand out is his amazing ability to perform dance numbers originally made for female groups. If you are aware, well, you should definitely know that by now. If not, prepare to be enlightened.

This list is based solely on my own opinion. I don’t think there’s a way to say “Oh, well, Key’s hips move about two degrees farther in dance x than dance y, therefore dance x is better”, but I do believe that his charisma and execution of each dance differs. Most importantly, enjoy this ensemble dedicated to Key! (aka, list constructed by crazy fan boy)

10. “Chu” by f(x).

I wouldn’t have discovered 90% of the K-Pop songs I know now if not for Key’s dancing endorsement. I found out about “Chu” through this, then Nu Abo, La Cha Ta, etc. Now, I’m a huge fan of f(x).

9. “A” by Rainbow.

This probably would have been moved five spots higher if he actually pulled his shirt the move off at :12.

8. “Bo Peep Bo Peep” by T-ara.

No explanation necessary.

7. “Abracadabra” by Brown Eyed Girls.

There’s another video on Youtube where you can see more of his hips – but I like this one because of the sheer seductiveness of his face. Oh baby.

6. “Hoot” by SNSD.

That walk, those hips… anyone else think Key should be the tenth member of SNSD? He’s attracting a lot of attention to them already, SM might as well include him.

5. “Genie” by SNSD.

I like how he out dances all of them. Get it girl! (er, I mean, boy…)

4. “Good Girl Bad Girl” by Miss A.

The best part is when he gets on the floor, hands down. You would think that he’d be embarrassed, but his confidence took me by surprise. I suppose when you’re Almighty you don’t worry about what others think of you.

3. “Because of You” by After School.

LOL, look at Jonghyun in the back! JONGKEY LIVES, I TELL YOU! Um, the dance is good too…

2. “Madonna” by Secret.

I wonder if Key buys his pants on sale, because at my house they would be 100% OFF. Sorry, I had to use that one (it’s true, though. Just kidding. Sort of).

1. “Muzik” by 4 Minute.

This is the only one I knew the placement of when I began the list. From :48 on is perfection… the hips, the facial expression, it’s all sensual and for show. If anyone doubts Key’s dancing ability, this video is irrefutable evidence of his tremendous talent.

There are a few other “honorable mentions” that were too short to post: “Gee”, “La Cha Ta”, “Hurricane Venus”, “Mr.”, to name a few.

What do you think of this list and Key’s girl group dances? Should any of these performances be moved up or down? Did I forget to include any? Let me know your thoughts! (:

F(x) Comeback Next Month

Image via Allkpop

A few weeks ago f(x)’s Krystal announced their comeback for April, which is now only ten days away. She said it on Shim Shim Tapa Radio alongside Shindong from Super Junior. Let’s hope they don’t push it back this time!

Their most popular song, Nu Abo, has recently hit number one on my IPod’s most played list. It’s such a great workout song (:

I just discovered their song Mr. Boogie yesterday, and now I can’t stop listening to it. They don’t have a music video for the song, but they do have choreography, which can be seen in their live performances…

What are your thoughts on the return of f(x)? Are you excited? Several fans are especially ecstatic for the return of Amber, who has been out of commission due to a supposed ankle injury and who knows what else.

I Now Pronounce Myself: Addicted to K-Pop

Okay, I admit it – I’m addicted to the stuff. It started with one simple song, and now it’s dominating my entire play list. These are three of the groups I like the most and my biases; more posts will probably be dedicated to them in the future.

SNSD (소녀시대)

Their songs are pretty dang catchy. Once I heard Oh!, I knew I was going to be singing it for days. While Tell Me Your Wish (Genie) is my favorite song from them (and number three on my IPod’s play list), you can still catch me humming “oh, oh, oh oh oppareul saranghae…”

Taeyon

One of the few members I can distinguish in SNSD, I like her voice (or at least when I can recognize it, AKA Genie solo portion).

f(x) (에프엑스)

Most people will say that f(x) is more talented than SNSD, and from what I have gathered, that seems to be the case. They each have talent: Luna and Krystal as singers, Amber as a rapper, Sulli as an actress, and Victoria as the leader. And yes, I can actually tell them apart.

Victoria

I honestly like all the members of f(x), but Victoria stands out the most to me with her charismatic charm and fantastic flexibility.

SHINee (샤이니)

I might not like them that much for their music, but I have to admit some of their songs have good hooks. Although I do question whether they know the meaning of the word “elastic”.

KEY

He’s almighty.
