Great setting – loved the American circus atmosphere carried through the novel. I didn’t feel for the characters though, and thus didn’t enjoy the story. The plot seemed forced at points, almost verging on melodrama – maybe that was the characters’ fault, still, I was left disappointed by this one.
I read this in September of 2009 and wrote a whopping review of it, but changed it to this little summary of my thoughts. I haven’t watched the movie yet but I’ve only heard good things about it from my friends – what do you guys think of the book compared to the movie? Is one better than the other? Maybe I’ll buy the DVD when it comes out.
